I have been running VCDS with A Ross Tech Hex-USB for a couple of years on my MacBook Pro without any issues, running Windows XP in a VirtualBox machine. Thought I'd post this on here in case anyone else finds themselves with the same issue as I couldn't find a solution anywhere and wasted a couple of hours trying to figure it out.
